Wet pastures, muddy paddocks, and a long rainy season leave hooves waterlogged, soft, and wide open to thrush. Venice Turpentine is the traditional fix — a thick pine gum resin that draws moisture out of saturated sole tissue, kills the bacteria driving thrush, and gradually toughens thin, flat hooves from the ground up.

65% Pinus Palustris gum resin with 20% turpentine oil. Applied to the sole and packed under brown paper to hold it in contact while it works. A farrier staple for generations — for horses that bruise on gravel, go tender after wet weather, or need consistent sole conditioning between visits.

🐴 When to Use It

Reach for Venice Turpentine when your horse:

Has been standing in wet pasture, muddy paddocks, or a wet-season environment — hooves are soft and waterlogged
Shows early-stage thrush — black, foul-smelling discharge in the frog grooves
Has soft or flat soles that bruise easily on hard or rocky ground
Goes tender or footsore after wet weather without an obvious abscess
Has thin-soled feet that need conditioning and hardening between farrier visits

🧴 How to Apply

Pick and clean the hoof — remove all debris and mud from the sole and frog.

Apply Venice Turpentine — spread a generous layer across the entire sole using a brush or spatula. Work it into the grooves of the frog and white line.

Pack with brown paper — cut a piece of brown paper bag to fit the sole and press it firmly over the turpentine. This holds the product in contact with the hoof and prevents it from picking up bedding.

Repeat daily — most horses show improvement within 1–2 weeks of consistent application.
