Pharmaceutical-grade Citric Acid in a 1.7 kg format. In livestock operations, citric acid earns its place through very specific jobs β water acidification for poultry gut health, nipple drinker and waterline descaling, and veterinary compounding. If youβre here for one of those, this is the right product. Supplied by Dominion Veterinary Laboratories Ltd., Winnipeg, Canada (Est. 1946).
π¬ Specific Use Cases
Lowering drinking water pH with citric acid improves gut health in broilers and layers by creating an environment less hospitable to pathogenic bacteria (Salmonella, E. coli). Commonly used during the first week of life and during periods of disease pressure. Also improves palatability of medicated water.
Typical rate: 0.5β1 g per litre of drinking water to achieve pH 4.0β5.0 β confirm with your veterinarian or nutritionist.
Mineral scale and biofilm build-up in nipple drinkers and water lines reduces flow, harbours bacteria, and reduces antibiotic efficacy when medicating through water. Citric acid dissolves calcium and mineral deposits without leaving harmful residues.
Flush lines with a 1β2% citric acid solution between flocks or as part of routine barn sanitation.
A standard acidulant and buffering agent used by veterinary compounding pharmacies in the preparation of oral solutions, suspensions, and topical formulations requiring pH adjustment.
As directed by compounding formula.
Used as an organic acidifier in livestock feed and water to support gut microbiome balance and reduce pathogen load, particularly in swine and poultry operations under veterinary guidance.
Dosing by veterinarian or nutritionist only β rates vary by species and production stage.
